Deepak Chopra launches graphic novel on Buddha’s life


Washington: New age guru Deepak Chopra is all set to publish a graphic adaptation of his New York Times bestselling novel "Buddha: A Story of Enlightenment" in collaboration with Liquid Comics and Dynamite Entertainment.

The 160-page, hardcover graphic novel will be available in bookstores across the US, December 14 with a digital Apple iPad version also available before the end of the year, Liquid Comics founded by three Indian American entrepreneurs announced Monday.

"Buddha's story from shedding his royal robes to taking on his monastic ones, from abandoning the false promises of materialism to understanding the truth that lurks in self-understanding, is one of the most powerful and insightful stories human civilization has ever known," said Deepak Chopra.

"To be able to bring that story to a whole new audience through a graphic novel re-telling with the help of Josh Dysart and Dean Hyrapiet is something I am very proud of," he added.

Deepak Chopra brings the Buddha back to life in this stunning graphic novel adaptation of his fictional look at one of the most iconic figures in philosophy and spiritualism.

Chopra, the author of "The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" and "The Book of Secrets" worked with prolific graphic novel writer, Joshua Dysart ("Greendale", "Unknown Soldier"), on this new adaptation of his novel.

Gotham Chopra, Co-Founder of Liquid Comics, oversaw and edited the graphic novel adaptation, which was produced by Liquid's studio of young talented artists in India and led by acclaimed illustrator, Dean Hyrapiet.

"We are thrilled to bring Deepak's explosive epic to life through the visual medium of graphic novels," Liquid Comics Co-Founder and CEO, Sharad Devarajan added.

"In addition to the printed edition, the Buddha digital comic books are available through Scribd.com, the Sony Reader Store and later this month through the iPad.
